Need for Reformation and Good Governance in Education

The big size population is not a problem when they are human resources equipped with skills and knowledge. And one of the major aims of the education system is to develop human resources so that humans do not become a burden for a country. And that is why the education system is the most indispensable component of national development strategy. Any lacking of the system will contribute to lagging behind in development race. Overall education system: Our education system is producing hundreds, thousands of Masters Degree holders every year. In spite of this, it is surprising that still we are slowcoach in many development areas and we hire foreigners for the top positions of the big companies. So the question arises – if our graduates are not productive enough. A British Council sponsored report prepared by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) on graduate unemployment in South Asia published earlier of 2015 estimated that 47% of the graduates are unemployed in Banglades

Greed has started poisoning the human souls: Values and ethics to repair the loosen fabric construct of the society

On one side there is a teacher who abused his female students, on the other side there is another teacher who was ill-treated by the leading members of the village. It is a matter of grave concern that such incidents are rising at an alarming rate. Lots of reports are there in newspapers where we see the parents killing their children, children killing their parents, and the spouse killing his /her partner and so on. These are the most sensational cases considering the nature of the relationships between the victims and the victimisers. Very recently we have been observing the very emergence of Young Gang Culture in the cities with its aggressive and destructive faces. Basically, very young school/college students who are supposed to be soft minded are the members of such gangs. Safe behind the wheel: Changing the way we drive is key

It is good to see that the proposed and much talked about Road Transport Act draft has been finalised. To me, articles, seminars, talk-shows, and laws do little while the death toll continues to rise. Until and unless, that is, people learn how to behave responsibly. Laws are undoubtedly necessary, but punishment can only be served after the occurrence of any incident. But as a nation, we have to do something. Something to make people conscious enough so that accidents are reduced, if not eliminated. My intention is to introduce “defensive driving” as a simple, cost-free technique for motorists, which can ensure demonstrating safe and responsible behaviour, which can lead to significant progress in the upkeep of road safety of the country. Many of our drivers do not have safety in mind / Photo By: Mehedi Hasan It means that while driving, the drivers need to keep in mind that other drivers or pedestrians are prone to be careless and make mistakes, and it is up to

Rules of the Road: Driving safely does not cost a thing

“Five killed in a head-on collision.” “Three killed by a truck.” “Two schoolboys run over while crossing road.” “Five members of a family killed in a road crash.” These have become mere sentences in our everyday news which, honestly, do not hold the shock value like they did in the past. But the families who have lost their loved ones are the only ones burdened with the pain of such unexpected and sudden loss. The pain is unbearable when a person has to hear news of his/her child’s early death due to someone’s recklessness behind the wheel. If we closely study the road accidents which occur in our country, we will find that most of them are not really accidents per se — because, for a catastrophe to be classified as an “accident,” it is implied that all the necessary measures/precautions were taken by the motorist. Photo: Rajib Dhar In the case of most of our road accidents, we can point to a motorist’s carelessness (bordering on callousness) as the cause of the fatali
